Uber to deliver match day magic for Black Ferns and All Blacks fans

Uber has announced it will partner with New Zealand Rugby (NZR) to ensure a five star matchday experience for all Black Ferns and All Blacks fixtures for the remainder of this season.

The partnership will first come to life with Uber funding discounts on rides on Uber Pool during the Bledisloe Cup and discounts on restaurant meals from thousands of Aotearoa’s best local restaurants across both matches.

Kicking off in time for the All Blacks first Bledisloe Cup clash on Saturday July 29 in Melbourne and their second match Saturday August 5 in Dunedin, Kiwis will be eligible for 50% off restaurant orders* placed on Uber Eats anywhere in the country, while those in Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington will also be able to enjoy 50% off one Uber Pool* on each of these days to get them to wherever they’re watching the match.

With more than a million Kiwis using Uber and Uber Eats last year, the initiatives are sure to spark demand for drivers, delivery people and for restaurant owners - starting with the two home and away fixtures for the men's side.

Eaters and riders can claim the 50 percent discount during the Bledisloe Cup matches by entering the codes specific for each match in the promotions section of the Uber or Uber Eats app before ordering a ride or a bite to eat on matchday.

Existing Uber One members, who already save on average more than $30 a month in Aotearoa, will continue to get $0 deliveries on orders from hundreds of restaurants as well as some money can’t buy experiences, including the chance to win merchandise and unlock incredible sideline viewing experiences for the All Blacks and Black Ferns.

Uber is also giving some of the highest rated driver and delivery partners the chance to don this year’s All Blacks and Black Ferns kit to show their support for the national team and to help everyone travelling to the match on game day feel a home ground advantage. Partners in Dunedin will be the first to show their colours ahead of the Bledisloe Cup decider in August, while the top rated partners in Hamilton will get their chance ahead of the Black Ferns O'Reilly Cup match against the Australian women’s side later this year.

Uber’s plans follow their global commitment to remove unnecessary plastic waste from all restaurant deliveries on Uber Eats globally by 2030. The partnership will feature All Black and Black Ferns talent driving awareness of Uber funded subsidies on sustainable packaging for the restaurant community in New Zealand and will also help promote sustainable ride choices like Uber Pool and Uber Green. 

New Zealanders will start noticing the partnership between Uber and the Black Ferns and All Blacks from the first Bledisloe Cup match this weekend through on ground sponsorships and a new 360 degree marketing campaign that shows national team stars sharing orders and rides in some very relatable circumstances.

The campaign will feature Liana Mikaele Tu’u, Maiakawanakaulani Roos, Tenika Willison, Grace Gago, Ethan de Groot, Dane Coles, Ardie Savea, and Sam Whitelock.

The content will be amplified on social and through digital channels as well as through out of home.
