Constitution

New Zealand Rugby is governed by the goals and rules set out in its Constitution.

New Zealand Rugby is an incorporated society and is therefore legally required to have a Constitution that includes rules governing:

  • NZRU members and affiliated organisations
  • Board Members, Officers and Life Members
  • powers and processes of the NZRU Board
  • annual reporting and accounts
  • Appeal Council
  • the regulations of rugby

The Constitution may be amended from time to time. The most recent amendment was to specifically provide for a 12-month extension to the terms of Bill Osborne as President and Max Spence as Vice President (to take account of the reduced rugby calendar in 2020 due to COVID-19). This amendment was approved by a postal ballot of the Affiliated Bodies in October 2020.
